Some misconceptions about hypnosis...

Stage hypnosis as popularised by some TV programs has unfortunately led to the misconception that a person can be made to do things against their will. This is a hopelessly distorted view of a very powerful therapeutic tool.  In fact nobody can be hypnotised against their will and even when hypnotised a person can still reject any suggestions given if not appropriate.

Clinical hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis for the treatment and relief of somatic and psychological symptoms. It is a state of purposeful co-operation between the therapist and the patient in order to reach a specific pre-agreed goal.  It is not a passive process, you are in partnership with your therapist to effect a beneficial change in your life.
