Obsessive compulsive disorder...
Obsessive compulsive disorder is an anxiety disorder based around recurrent and persistent thoughts coupled with repetitive ritualised behaviour. Usually in order to prevent some future disaster from occurring, a person feels compelled to carry out elaborate rituals often in a specific and exact order. If a mistake is made then the whole procedure has to begin again. This can be incredibly time consuming and can have a distressing effect on the ability to lead a normal life.
Compulsive behaviours expressed with OCD:
People who experience OCD usually recognise that these rituals are excessive and unreasonable but are helpless in controlling the behaviour. It is often carried out in secret with even close friends and family unaware of the situation.
Hypnotherapy can help to reintegrate the dissociated aspect of the personality responsible for the OCD and assist in returning to a more normal way of life.
